John "hyrqBot" Velly is a French League of Legends player who is currently the manager for Sparta.

Biography

hyrqBot is a League of Legends player hailing from Nogent-sur-Marne, France.

His first foray in gaming included, but is not limited to StarCraft: Brood War, Counter-Strike, WarHammer Online, WarCraft III and Guild Wars. One game he played a lot is Defense of the Ancients (DOTA), which he played for four years.

He started playing LoL due to his friends inciting him to join them. He initially did not like the game and went back to DotA, only to notice that he developed a strong dislike for many of the game's characteristics. He soon came back to League, sticking to it ever since.

Initially, his family was not very supportive of his LoL gaming activities. However, they soon would be as he convinced them of how important this game is to him, as he started to make a name for himself in the League of Legends competitive scene.

On January 12th, 2014, hyrqBot announced his retirement from competitive League of Legends.[1]

Trivia

  • His in-game handle's origins are divided into two parts:
    • hyrQ is a reference to Hirako Shinji, a character from the Anime/Manga Bleach.
    • Bot was the tag of an old friend's team, which he kept.
  • Started playing Jungle because none of his friends wanted to play the role.
  • He plays Mid in solo queue when he doesn't Jungle.
  • Kev1n was the one to invite hyrqBot into the team's tryouts. He made it in one month before it was announced.
  • Since Cyanide couldn't make it to Paris Games Week 2012 due to studying obligations, HyrqBot was chosen to temporarily replace him in the Fnatic MIX as jungler, as well as YellOwStaR taking the AD role, leading the team to victory.
  • hyrqBot's tweet[2] spurred sOAZ and Wickd to make a wager to decide which of them would participate in the Season 3 LCS All-Star Game in a Best-of-5 showdown.[3] .
  • He is fond of both Italian and French food.
  • His time with SK Gaming allowed him to be exposed to different cultures, opening his mind even more than it was. It also incited him to provide content for the International scene. He was already providing loads of content for the French scene.
  • He is a fan of basketball. His favorite basketball player is Magic Johnson
  • His favorite music genre is Rap music.
